Commonwealth Biz Women in Gambia Hold Introductory Meeting with Tourism Ministry

The Commonwealth Business Women- The Gambia chapter last week held a fruitful meeting with Mrs. Cordu L. Jabang-Senghore, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture in Banjul. Led by their President, Mrs. Ellen Johnson, the women were at the Ministry to formally introduce their group, which was established in September 2023. During the discussion, the group president explained that they are not only into business but also into women’s empowerment, health, education, cyber security, and anything that will positively contribute to the development of Gambian women.

She used the opportunity to call on the Ministry to support women groups through projects that are crucial for the advancement of the cause of Gambian women. On receiving the members of the group, on behalf of the Minister, Mrs. Cordu L. Jabang–Senghore, thanked the group for taking their valuable time to visit the Ministry. She told them to unite, work together, and be each other’s keepers for the benefit of their association. The PS assured them of the Ministry’s support in whatever way possible. She described the meeting as a step in the right direction, towards women’s empowerment. “Coming together and working as a team is a good move and that is what you people are doing exactly. So, keep it up. I am happy about your visit,” she told them.
