Hosting of 15th OIC Summit will be Important Achievement for Gambia, Islamic World - OIC Assistant SG

The Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs at the OIC Secretariat, H.E Ambassador Yousef Al-Dobeay, has assured of the General Secretariat’s readiness to support Gambia successfully host the 15th edition of the OIC Summit scheduled to take place in December 2023, saying it will be an important accomplishment for The Gambia and the Islamic world in general.

Ambassador Al-Dobeay made this assurance last week, when he led a high-level delegation from the General Secretariat to the Presidency in Banjul. The team was in the country to brief President Barrow on their upcoming activities and to gauge the level of The Gambia’s preparedness for the summit in December.

He reiterated the Secretariat’s commitment to work with The Gambia to ensure that everything is in place for this remarkable summit.

H.E Yusef Mohammed Al Dobeayfurther explained that the team assured the President of the general secretariat’s support as they have established a special committee in close coordination with The Gambian ambassador to Saudi Arabia for preparations of the summit.

The Assistant SG and delegation were accompanied to State House by Honourable Mamadou Tangara, Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Omar Gibril Sallah, Gambian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
