Holland-based Foundation Renders Free Cataract Surgery in Gambia

Europe Aid Foundation, a relief agency based in Holland, the Netherlands, in collaboration with local implementing partners like Cemiyetul Hayir Relief Organisation (CHRO) The Gambia and the National Eye Health Programme of The Ministry of Health recently concluded free cataract surgery at Brikama, Bansang and Soma regional hospitals.

The surgery, according to the officials of the Foundation, targets vulnerable and needy persons and communities in The Gambia. About 60 surgeries were conducted in Brikama; 30 in Soma and 60 in Bansang.

Lamin Njie, a health worker, affirmed that this was not the first humanitarian gesture from Europe Aid Foundation, attesting to the fact that they have been providing reliefs; such as Ramadan food, rams for Tobaski, and assistance to orphans, among others.

Binta Saho, Sulayman Jagne of Soma, Alassan Jobe of Bansang, and Kaddy Bajo of Brikama, all of them beneficiaries of the cataract surgery, thanked Europe Aid Foundation for the support, affirming that the operation has changed their lives for good.
