Journalists in the country will be embarking on a two-day online training on Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) and related issues around the pandemic.

Organised by Ministry of Health trough the its Health Promotion Directorate, the training, which will commence on Friday, May 22nd, is being funded by UNDP.

In an orientation ahead of the online event, Salifu M Touray, media assistant at the Health Promotion Directorate, affirmed to the journalists that the two-day training is aimed to properly equip our journalists with relevant information about the corona virus; especially on how people can prevent and take precautionary measures.

“Corona virus are a large family of virus that cause illness ranging from common cold to more sever disease; such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-COV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS -COV),” he explained. This, Mr Touray said needs to be understood, emphasising the need for journalists to know so as to better inform the public.
