Health Ministry Receives D513, 000 Worth of Medical Supplies from China

The Government of the People’s Republic of China, through the Ministry of Health (MoH) recently donated a batch of drugs and medical equipment to Bansang Hospital in the Central River Region (CRR).

This donation is meant to enhance the friendship between the People’s Republic of China and The Republic of The Gambia.

The donated medical items include: drugs, blood pressure machines, surgical gloves and absorbable sutures.

The occasion was graced by senior government officials from the Ministry of Health, CEO Bansang General Hospital, governors of Lower River Region and Central River Region.

On behalf of the Minister of Health, the Deputy Permanent Secretary at MoH, Mr.  Babanding Sabally, thanked the government of the People’s Republic of China and acknowledged their continuous efforts in promoting and improving health care service delivery in The Gambia. He also urged the staff at Bansang Hospital to utilise the donated items in the most effective and appropriate manner.

The CEO of Bansang Hospital, Dr. Masirending Njie emphasised the importance of deepening the cooperation between the two governments in order to promote and facilitate essential exchanges in the field of healthcare.

The Governor of CRR, Mr. Ousman Bah, also acknowledged China government’s contribution to the health and wellbeing of Gambians. He equally thanked them for their unwavering support to other development initiatives in his region.

The handover ceremony was marked by the mutual appreciation and gratitude for the continual support and collaboration between China and The Gambia in the healthcare sector.
