GFF: We Need D388 Million for AFCON

In press conference held last week the Gambia Football Federation revealed that the estimated cost for Gambia’s participation in the upcoming continental football tournament stands at 388 million Dalasi. A committee has already been set up to take care of the financial, and logistics required. “It requires commitment and dedication to support our national team,” Musa Cisay, Head of the Publicity Committee, said disclosing that one hundred and fifty people are expected to travel with the team; including three journalists from the media houses. “We will work efficiently and effectively to ensure the work is done properly because we always learn from our previous mistakes,” he promised.

The President of Gambia Football Federation Lamin Kaba Bajo, said sport brings a lot of economic benefits to this country. “A lot of young people are now playing football outside the country and they are being paid good money which they send to their family back home. We have more than two hundred professional players and they are contributing to the development of the country”.

Ebou Faye, Head of the technical committee highlighted some of their plans ahead of the event. “We are partnering with our good friends, Morroco and Saudi Arabia and we are working to have a training season with them before the start of the tournament,” he revealed.
