Gambia’s Youth Entrepreneurship, Investment Bank being Worked out -Youth Minister

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Bakary K. Badjie has told Gambia Daily that plans are afoot to establish a Youth Entrepreneurship and Investment Bank in the country.  He said this during Gambia’s independence anniversary celebration at the McCarthy Square in Banjul.

Making reference to the Africa Development Bank (ADB) President’s announcement that they will support the establishment of the said youth investment bank in The Gambia, the Youth Minister revealed that his ministry is working with the Ministry of Finance to finalise details. “[Afterwards], the Ministry of Finance will contact necessary institutions to start the process of establishing the bank,” he explained.

He stressed that the initiative is specifically for the young people who are in business and it aims to support them with micro-credit facilities to help them improve and expand their businesses.

Speaking about the overall progress being made by government, the Minister mentioned the massive infrastructure development underway across the country, while expressing their commitment to empowering the youth by providing more skills development and employment opportunities.
