His Excellency the Vice President of The Gambia, has reaffirmed government’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, underscoring the importance of robust collaboration to tackle pressing challenges such as climate change, poverty, and inequality. VP Jallow, made these remarks whiles delivering the keynote address at the UN Day commemoration held at the International Conference Centre in Bijilo. The event marks 79 years of the United Nations’ dedication to peace, development, and universal dignity.
In his speech, VP Jallow celebrated The Gambia’s enduring partnership with the UN, emphasizing the critical role its agencies play in advancing the nation’s development agenda. From UNDP’s support for governance reforms to UNICEF’s initiatives in child protection and education, and WHO’s leadership in strengthening healthcare systems. The Vice President highlighted the tangible impact of the UN across Gambian society. He expressed profound gratitude to UN agencies, development partners, and the diplomatic community for their invaluable contributions to building a more resilient and inclusive future for all Gambians. “Happy 79th anniversary to the United Nations. May our partnership grow even stronger as we work together to create a world defined by peace, prosperity, and justice for all,” VP Jallow concluded.
