The Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology has reported that an agreement has been reached between the Minister and concerned authorities, on the fringes of the recently concluded Higher Education Ministerial Summit, organised by Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) in Quebec, Canada, that The Gambia will host in April 2024 the upcoming Annual Sub- Regional Conference of Higher Education Ministers and Sectors of Southern Senegambia under the auspices of AUF.
The four-day ministerial meeting, which commenced on October 30th, aimed to bring together Higher Education ministers to reflect on various themes in the form of panel discussions.
During the panel discussion, Professor Gomez highlighted Gambia’s higher education transformation agenda, anchored on hands-on education and entrepreneurship.
After the sessions, the Minister held bilateral meetings with the Higher Education Minister of Quebec, Canada, Honourable Pascal Dery; and the Higher Education Minister of Morocco, Honourable Abdellatif Miraoui, on potential assistance towards TVET promotion in The Gambia including scholarship at postgraduate level.
