Gambia confirms 10th COVID-19 case

The Ministry of Health has reported that The Gambia now has 10 confirmed cases of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

 

This was revealed by Dr Mustapha Bittaye, acting Director of Health Services on Sunday, April 19th while giving daily situational update on COVID -19 in the Gambia.

 

He explained that the newly confirmed case is a hitherto probable case whose first repeated test results was negative. He added that this new case emerged from the 23 laboratory results they had received. “Currently 95 persons are under quarantine and 7 are active cases,” he reported.

 

Dr Bittaye summed Gambia’s current Coronavirus standing as a total of 332 tests conducted, 10 were positive, 256 people completed  quarantine, 302 contacts traced and 310 people completed.

 

He used the opportunity to advise people to strictly follow government’s guidelines and emphasized the need to stay  at home in order to protect their lives and those of their loved ones.
