The Minister of Defence Hon. Sering Modou Njie last week received at the Ministry in Banjul a delegation from the Senegalo-Gambia Permanent Secretariat, led by the Executive Secretary of the Secretariat, His Excellency El Hadji Ibou Boye.
Ambassador Boye registered appreciation for the warm reception accorded him and his team.
The Senegalo-Gambia Secretariat according to him is an instrument of functional cooperation between the two neighbouring countries. He said the Secretariat deemed it fit to partner with the Ministry of Defence since it is the ministry tasked with the protection of the territorial integrity of The Gambia.
The Minister of Defence, His Honourable Sering Modou Njie expressed delight for this being his first official engagement since assuming office. He assured the Secretariat of the Ministry’s full commitment and support to the efforts of the Secretariat. “Collaborations of such kind should be valued and be further cemented in the interest of The Gambia and Senegal”.
He stressed the need for greater collaboration to ensure peace and stability in both countries and by extension the sub-region.
Speaking earlier the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Mrs. Rohie Bittaye Darboe, who delivered the welcome remarks, extended appreciation to the Senegalo-Gambian Permanent Secretariat for the visit.
Present during the courtesy call were the Deputy Permanent Secretary and Principal Staff Officers of the Ministry of Defence.
