Reconstruction works on the Brikama market has entered final stage, according to officials of the Ministry of Transport, Works and Infrastructure.
The market project came about following a serious fire outbreak on the 11th May 2020 that ravaged the market, destroying over 20 stalls, and prompting government, through the Ministry of Transport, Works and Infrastructure to initiate construction of a standard market for the people of Brikama.
Many people have described the market as one of the biggest economic transaction spaces in The Gambia once completed.
During the 12th Project Steering Committee meeting held at last month at the Brikama Area Council, James F. Gomez, Senior Project Manager, Gamworks, affirmed that all the necessary materials needed for the timely completion of the market are in place and implementation is as scheduled.
He informed that the market would be provided with the latest safety equipment just like the new Basse market.
