Cabinet Concludes ‘Delivering for Results’ Retreat

His Excellency President Adama Barrow recently presided over a two-day cabinet retreat themed “Delivering for Results”. The purpose of this retreat was to establish parameters for exploring additional ways to harness shared commitments to achieve the significant progress and development that the nation deserves.
Held at State House in Banjul, ministers set out five development deliverable within six months to provide services for the citizens to benefit.
Speaking to the press about the forum, Information Minister Dr. Ismaila Ceesay said the gathering provided an opportunity for cabinet members to reflect on and discuss ways to work collectively and more effectively to improve results. “To succeed, we must ensure that every decision and action taken by this august body translates into tangible improvements for the people of The Gambia”.
He went on:  “The President wants 2025 to be a year of delivery and sectors must deliver their mandate. This helps in policy coordination”.
Minister Ceesay further explained that every minister was to look at their ministry’s budget and initiatives to see how they can align with the National Development Plan (NDP) and come up with five key deliverables within six months.
 “As Minister of Information, one of my key deliverables is government communication policy which I think does not exist right now. It addresses how government communicates with the public,” he stated.
Minister Ceesay said better planning can lead to smoother execution and improved outcomes, as well as ensure a more effective cabinet.
