Amputee Football Association SG Speaks about State of their Football, Plan

Following The Gambia Amputee Football Association’s executive team’s visit to the Turkish embassy, The Gambia Daily Sports sat with the Secretary General of The Gambia amputee team, Dawda Danso, to the state of their football and plans. He said they are in their first 3 years and that it has not been quite easy for them. He said they have so far had two established teams Kanifing Municipality and West Coast Region respectively. “We want to go nationwide to prepare more amputee footballers,” Danso said. About the reason of their visit to the Turkish embassy, the SG said they were there to introduce The Gambia Amputee Football Association, highlight achievements of the Association and explore opportunities, and collaboration with Turkish Embassy in The Gambia.

He said during the meeting, both parties discussed means of enhancing collaboration to develop amputee football in The Gambia. “The Turkish Ambassador to The Gambia, His Excellency, F. Turker Oba expressed appreciation for the rapid development of amputee football in The Gambia and also expressed his commitment to the Association in the future. The visit gave us the chance to showcase our talents as disability is not inability,” Danso remarked.
