Alvihag presents D300, 000 cash, sanitary items worth over D300,000 to VP Touray

The Alvihag Supermarket has joined the flurry businesses stepping up to support government’s efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19.

 

The Supermarket on Thursday, April 16th presented a cash amount of D300,000 and sanitary and hygiene materials worth of D300 720 to Her Excellency the Vice President Dr. Isatou Touray at State House.

 

The cleaning items comprise 4200 toilet papers, 120 toilet cleane, 240 Dettol bottles, 180 hand wash and bleach water.

 

Dr Touray thanked the CEO of Alvihag Supermarket on behalf of the President for the donation and their efforts towards the fight against the coronavirus disease in the country.

 

She took the opportunity to commend the private sector for their contribution towards the crusade against COVID-19.

 

She expressed optimism that the fight will be won, judging by the tremendous amount of collaboration and support from everyone including the businesses.

 

Dawda Ceesay, Permanent Secretary at the Office of the Vice President also praised the Supermarket for their timely gesture.

 

“This pandemic has affected our social activity as well as our economy. One of the ways to stop the spread of the virus is to prevent it by using cleaning materials such as these items and also observe social distancing as advised by WHO,” he remarked.

 

PS Ceesay noted government’s objective to provide such materials to every household in the country, in order to prevent loss of life.

 

Mr. Vijay Aswani, Manager of Alvihag Supermarket expressed honour and gratitude to make this donation to the government, and help fight against Coronavirus disease.
