6 Prisoners Get Presidential Pardon

The Gambia Government Spokesperson, Ebrima G Sankareh, in a press release dated April 29th announced the President of the Republic His Excellency President Adama Barrow had pardoned a total six prisoners. The President acted in accordance with powers vested in him by Section 82 (1) (a) of the 1997 Constitution of The Gambia and upon recommendation of the Prerogative of Mercy Committee.

The pardoned inmates are as follows:

 

Gibby Sey, Gambian; Ebrima Bah, Gambian; Lamin Saidybah, Gambian; Ebrima Jallow, Gambian; Mustapha Jobe, Gambian  and Mustapha Jallow, Conakry Guinean.

 

“The customary extension of Presidential Prerogative of Mercy to prisoners is part of the celebrations of the Muslim Feast of Eid ul Fitr locally called Koriteh,” the release stated.
