38 New Ambulances, 6 Supervision Vehicles Handed Over to Gambia Government

Banjul, 24th February 2025: His Excellency Mohammed B.S. Jallow, Vice President of The Gambia on Saturday, 22nd February 2025 presided over the official hand-over ceremony of 38 brand-new ambulances and 6 supervision vehicles from Riders for Health Gambia to the Government of The Gambia. The event took place at McCarthy Square in Banjul, marking a significant milestone in the country’s healthcare delivery system.
These vehicles will be distributed to health facilities across the country to enhance universal health care access and strengthen referral systems, ultimately reducing child and maternal mortality rates.
In his remarks, Vice President Jallow highlighted the importance of this initiative. “The handover of these ambulances and supervision vehicles to the Ministry of Health represents a significant step in our commitment to providing timely and quality healthcare services. Every Gambian, especially the most vulnerable, deserves access to the care they need,” he stated.
He further emphasised that these vehicles will improve emergency response services, enhance referral systems, and save lives.
“Maternal and child health remains a key priority of the government. We are committed to ensuring that every woman, child, and family has access to quality, affordable, and timely healthcare,” VP Jallow highlighted. 
The Vice President also commended Riders for Health Gambia for their dedication, resilience, and passion in supporting the nation’s healthcare delivery system.
