The Nigerian airline, Value Jet on Thursday, May 15, 2025, made its official maiden landing at the Banjul International Airport.
The Lagos-Banjul service will operate twice a week, with outbound flights departing Lagos every Thursday and Sunday. Return flights from Banjul are scheduled for Mondays and Fridays, departing at 12:30 a.m. and arriving in Lagos by 5:00 a.m.
.The Director of Operations, Gambia Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Mr. Abdoulie Colley, who spoke on behalf of the Director General (GCAA), thanked the management and staff of Value Jet for choosing to fly to destination Gambia.
“You are welcome to The Gambia, and I can assure you that you are in a safe environment and that your safety and security will be guaranteed,” he said.
He further assured that the management and staff of Banjul International Airport and its partners in the aviation industry will cooperate and collaborate for the smooth operation of their flights to Banjul.
Gambia’s defence attaché in Nigeria, Mr. Assan Sarr, who headed the delegation, described the Gambia as a peaceful country in the sub-region.
He also thanked Value Jet for coming to The Gambia, saying is a move in the right direction.
It is important to note that the introduction of the Lagos-Banjul route is a significant milestone in Value Jet’s journey to expand travel options and strengthen regional integration within West Africa. This new route will not only facilitate greater business and cultural exchange between Nigeria and The Gambia but also unlock new opportunities in the tourism and trade sectors.
