U19 Volleyball Team to Get D500,000 Bonus for Impressive Abuja Campaign

Following their impressive campaign in the recently concluded U19 African Nation's Championship in Abuja, Nigeria, The Gambia National Under 19 boys volleyball team are bracing up for a D500, 000 reward of their successful outing. This was a pledge made by the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports, Bakary Y. Badjie on Friday, April 23rd, 2021, when the volleyball team and association executives paid a courtesy call on him at his office in Banjul.

The minister affirmed to the delegation that his ministry is empowered by government to execute the needs of young people and promote sports development, and that his office is determined to carry out its responsibilities accordingly.

Speaking earlier, Bai Dodou Jallow, President of the Gambia Volleyball Association, expressed gratitude to the minister and his technocrats for their support.

 

He acknowledged the efforts of the Ministry through the National Sports Council in attending to their requests and urged for more indoor facilities to be provided.

In his remark, Marcel Mendy, Executive Director of the National Sports Council, commended the team for their efforts and thanked the association for their guidance.

He assured of his office’s commitment to youth empowerment and sports development in the country.
