President Expresses Satisfaction with Progress of Road Projects - As he Inspects Sites in GBA

Banjul, 19th June 2025: His Excellency President Adama Barrow on Wednesday, 18th June, embarked on a comprehensive roads inspection tour, assessing the ongoing infrastructure development projects across key routes within the Greater Banjul Area. The tour, which commenced at Ebo Town Junction Road along the West Field Brikama Highway, aimed to evaluate the progress of various roadworks and ensure that the projects are on track to enhance connectivity and accessibility for Gambians.

The inspection proceeded to EboTown Badala, where President Barrow took the opportunity to engage with residents who organised a Quranic recitation prayer and discussed the importance of improved road infrastructure for economic growth and community development. The convoy returned to the highway, proceeding to Tabokoto, where the President inspected the Tabokoto-Banjulinding Road EPC Lot 5.

The tour continued onto the Wellingara-Abuko road, leading to the Sinchu Wellingara Road. The President expressed satisfaction with the ongoing works.

The President reiterated concerns about existing storm discharge, noting that if this is not considered, it could create inconvenience to residents. This road, upon completion, is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in the area.

The convoy made its way to Farato Bojang Kunda, where President Barrow inspected the asphalt works, a critical component of the road improvement initiative. He emphasised the government’s commitment to ensuring that all road projects meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

After the inspection at Farato, the tour returned to Airport Junction, where the convoy proceeded to P6 opposite Muhammad Jah Junction. The President continued through P6 Bijilo, driving to Kerr Serign and existing at Kololi New Road. The inspection route also included a drive along Sanchaba Road to P18, where the President noted the importance of these roads in facilitating trade and mobility.

The tour culminated with a stop at the end of P18 for a press briefing, where President Barrow highlighted the importance of road infrastructure. He reassured the public of the government’s dedication to completing these vital infrastructure projects, which are essential for national development.

“We are making significant strides in improving our road networks, which will ultimately enhance the quality of life for our citizens and stimulate economic activities,” President Barrow stated during the briefing.

The President reaffirmed that the government is not doing donor-funded roads only; that some of the roads are funded through the consolidated funds – the 365 km of roads.

The Honorable Ebrima Sillah, Minister of Works, Transport and Infrastructure, said the President’s inspection tour underscores the government’s efforts to invest in infrastructure, a key pillar of the National Development Agenda. “As the projects near completion, the Gambian people can look forward to improved transportation networks that will foster greater connectivity and economic opportunities across the nation”, he said.
