His Excellency, President Adama Barrow on Tuesday, May 20th, received the representatives of the Gambia-France Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG). The delegation was accompanied to the State House by Muhammed Magassey, staff of Gambia’s Embassy in France, and former National Assembly for Basse.

After their audience with the President, Muhammed Magassey told journalists that the two groups discussed issues related to mutual development.

Honourable Alieu Juwara, representative of the Parliamentary Friendship Group in France, said he came to meet his counterpart, Honourable Lamin J. Sanneh, of Brikama South, who is leading the parliamentarian pressure group in The Gambia.

About the meeting, he had this to say: “We discussed a lot of issues, particularly the memorandum of understanding (MoU) for both countries to benefit in a reciprocal manner. We understand that France is a major partner, especially during difficult times. After the 2016 election, France made a pledge of Fifty Million Euros. They are also supporting NAWEC to provide clean drinking water -  the biggest project for France in The Gambia.”

The Parliamentary Friendship Group was established in 2019 after the French parliament was led into The Gambia by a special team in 2016.
