President Barrow Hails Cultural Group for Promoting Diversity -As Soma Festival Ends

Banjul, 16th June 2025: His Excellency, President Adama Barrow, on Saturday, 14th June, attended Tabital Pulaaku Cultural Diversity Day Festival at Soma in Jarra East, Lower River Region.

Tabita Pulaaku is an international association whose main objectives are the promotion of the Fulani and the federation of Fulani populations in order to support socio-economic and cultural developments.

In his address, President Barrow praised the Gambia chapter, through its President Seedy Dem, for organising such a significant event and for promoting cultural diversity. He suggested that they organise a grander meeting with more groups, in which they could discuss issues of national development.

The President expressed his commitment to decentralising development efforts in the country, making reference to the 200km of roads being constructed in the Lower River Region and other parts of the country.

He took the opportunity to call on all Gambians to maintain peace and stability in the country.

Honourable Momodou Jallow, former National Assembly Member, praised the group for the initiative and thanked President Barrow for creating a conducive environment for everyone to thrive regardless of tribe or other affiliations.

Fatou Kandeh, Tabital Pulaaku’s Women’s Mobiliser, also hailed  President Barrow for the development projects of his government and called all Gambian women to support him. “We have seen the support he has given to the women of The Gambia,” she stated.

For Sannaky Jallow, they should have a television station or a programme where they can showcase their culture, so that their children can learn and know their culture.

Alhage Yaya Jarjusey, Chief of Jarra East, thanked Seedy Dem, President of Tabital Pulaaku, for organising such an event in his area, and the President for implementing development projects across the country.

 Seedy Dem, President of Tabital Pulaaku The Gambia, thanked the President for attending the occasion and called on members of the group to work together and support the President in his development efforts.

He explained that the Tabital Pulaaku comprises of 27 member countries in Africa, including The Gambia, Senegal, and Guinea. Mr Dem commended the representatives from these countries to the event.

Other speakers were Honourable Dr. Demba Sabally, Minister of Agriculture; Momodou Sabally, Special Adviser to the President; and Maimuna Baldeh, National People’s Party’s National Women’s Mobiliser.
