Banjul, 15th May: His Excellency President Adama Barrow last week visited the International Trade Fair at Bijilo, West Coast Region. He was taken on a conducted tour of the stalls and businesses, in which he took the opportunity to interact with business owners.
After his tour of the fair, the President told the press that he was pleased to be at the trade affair and that it has become a tradition that every year he visits the trade fair.
“I think this trade affair is doing a good job because it is promoting The Gambia as well as contributing to national development. I am really impressed with what I have seen compared to last year; they are completely different; it seems every year they are progressing and showcasing many Gambians selling Gambian products,” President Barrow observed.
He further pointed out that he is very happy of what they have seen and promise that government will continue to support businesses through the trade Ministry.
President Barrow encourage the Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry to continue doing more. He was quick to say that, if we work together and unite we can achieve a lot and we cannot develop this country without peace as peace is everything.
He further recognized Gambian youth and women for their contribution to national development.
“I have also seen GRA staff here collecting tax and Gambia is a tax base economy, if you are not creating something like this you cannot collect tax and I have seen different nationalities in the trade fair who have come to support as well.” President stated.
President Barrow called on Gambians to come out in large numbers to support the trade fair and support Gambian products.
The president was accompanied by the President of GCCI, Minister of trade, Honorable Ismaila o. Joof, Minister of Youth and Sport Honorable Bakary Badjie and Honorable Fatou Kinteh Minister of Gender and Children Affairs.
