The Minister of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment, Hon. Baboucarr O. Joof, represented The Gambia at the European Union (EU) Day celebrations, on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, Hon. Dr. Momodou Tangara.
Delivering the closing statement at the dialogue in Banjul, the Minister emphasised the fruitful nature of the dialogue that demonstrated “our collective commitment to advancing the longstanding partnership between The Gambia and the European Union.”
He highlighted the spirit of mutual respect that characterised the discussions on political development, good governance, regional cooperation, environmental sustainability, and resilience. “These candid exchanges have broadened our perspectives and fortified the foundations for enhanced cooperation,” he noted.
He went on: “The commitments made and action points agreed upon during this dialogue reflect our shared resolve to translate words into meaningful action,” stated the Minister, underlining the importance of effective implementation to fulfill the objectives of both the Samoa Agreement and The Gambia’s National Development Plan.”
Minister Joof on behalf of Dr. Tangara reaffirmed the Government’s steadfast commitment to deepening collaboration with the European Union, expressing appreciation for their continuous support of The Gambia’s development priorities.
He concluded by extending sincere gratitude to the EU Delegation in The Gambia, all delegates, participants, and the organising committee for their contributions to the successful dialogue.
“I am confident that the outcomes of our engagements today will strengthen the enduring ties of friendship and cooperation between The Gambia and the European Union,” he stated.
