The Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, on Wednesday received the Head of the Diplomatic Mission and Chargé d’Affaires of the Kingdom of Morocco to The Gambia, Hon. Ahmed Belhadj, who paid a farewell courtesy call ahead of the completion of his diplomatic assignment in The Gambia.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, provided an opportunity for both sides to reflect on the longstanding friendship and growing bilateral cooperation between the Republic of The Gambia and the Kingdom of Morocco.
It also served as a platform to reaffirm the commitment of both countries to further strengthening the cordial diplomatic ties that have continued to flourish over the years. Welcoming the outgoing diplomat, Hon. Dr. Ismaila Ceesay commended Hon. Ahmed Belhadj for his dedicated service and valuable contribution to advancing cooperation between The Gambia and Morocco during his tenure.
He acknowledged the important role played by the Moroccan diplomat in fostering mutual understanding and strengthening collaboration in areas of shared interest. The Minister expressed appreciation for the Kingdom of Morocco’s continued support to The Gambia across various sectors, underscoring the importance of the enduring relationship between the two countries.
He noted that the partnership between The Gambia and Morocco has been built on mutual respect, solidarity, and a shared commitment to development and regional cooperation. Hon. Dr. Ceesay wished Hon. Belhadj every success in his future diplomatic responsibilities and expressed confidence that the longstanding bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries would continue to deepen.
He affirmed that both countries remain committed to expanding cooperation for the mutual benefit of their peoples. For his part, Hon. Ahmed Belhadj expressed sincere gratitude to the Government and people of The Gambia for the warm hospitality, friendship, and support extended to him throughout his diplomatic mission.
He described his tenure in the country as both rewarding and memorable, highlighting the spirit of cooperation and goodwill that characterised his engagement with government institutions and the Gambian people. The outgoing Chargé d’Affaires reaffirmed the Kingdom of Morocco’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with The Gambia.
He expressed confidence that the cordial relations enjoyed by the two countries would continue to grow through sustained dialogue, cooperation, and collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
The farewell courtesy call concluded with both sides reaffirming their shared commitment to preserving and further strengthening the longstanding diplomatic relations between The Gambia and the Kingdom of Morocco.
