His Excellency President Adama Barrow last week at State House received the leadership of Kombo Lamin village including members of the Village Development Committee (VDC), and women representatives.
The meeting focused on the construction of a youth recreational centre, new national stadium, women’s garden, road construction and other national infrastructure within Lamin.
The Secretary General of Lamin VDC, Alagie Yusupha Gomez, thanked President Barrow for the opportunity to discuss these important issues. He emphasised the need for road construction to reduce traffic congestion and improve transportation between Lamin and nearby villages. He also requested presidential support for the fencing of women’s garden to protect it from intrusions and the construction of youth recreational centre to promote a healthy community. Gomez assured the President their strong support for the government’s development plans.
Jammeh Bojang, VDC Chairperson of Lamin, expressed appreciation to the President for the reception.
He informed that the community has allocate 500 by 500-meter land to government to build the proposed national stadium through a Public Private Partnership (PPP).
In his remarks, President Barrow praised the Kombo Lamin representatives for their support and affirmed his government’s plan for a multi-sport national stadium in Lamin, urging the community to align their local initiatives with government policies.
He also pledged his government’s support for the Lamin women’s garden, to help them maximize their produce and prevent animal intrusion.
