On Thursday, June 5, 2025, the Ministry of Information, Media, and Broadcasting Services and the Sports Journalists’ Association of The Gambia (SJAG) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), establishing a robust framework for collaboration to advance sports journalism in The Gambia.
The agreement, signed by SJAG President Mr. Omar Jarju and the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, commits both parties to a two-year partnership focused on joint initiatives, knowledge exchange, and capacity-building programmes. This MoU is designed to elevate professional standards in sports journalism and foster opportunities for Gambian media practitioners.
In his address, President Jarju extended profound gratitude to the Ministry, underscoring that the partnership, grounded in mutual respect and professionalism, will yield significant benefits for The Gambia.
The Honorable Minister Dr. Ismaila Ceesay commended SJAG’s dynamic leadership and affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to leveraging its bilateral and multilateral networks to support sports journalists and promote impactful national projects.
This strategic alliance positions SJAG and the Ministry to redefine the future of sports journalism in The Gambia.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing the quality of sports journalism through strategic partnerships and targeted capacity-building initiatives.
