Ms. Ida Persson has been awarded Woman of the Year 2025 at SheAwards 5.0, a platform celebrating courage, integrity, and service of women all around the Gambia. This year’s theme, “She Defies for Zero Tolerance,” honours those who stand firm against injustice and ethical failure.
As Head of the Post-TRRC Unit and Advisor to the Attorney General and Minister Of Justice on Transitional Justice, Ida ensures accountability, supports reparations, and advances reforms that strengthen the justice system.
Her work is guided by discipline, fairness, and respect for the rule of law. Ms. Ida leads through action. Justice, in her hands, is deliberate, principled, and focused on accountability and reform. The theme of this year’s awards comes alive in her daily work, zero tolerance for impunity, zero tolerance for ethical compromise, zero tolerance for forgetting the lessons of the past.
Being awarded Woman of the Year 2025 is earned. Her service continues to strengthen institutions and leave a lasting impact on the nation.
