Government gives account of Forfeited Assets Linked to Former President Jammeh

The Government of The Gambia through the Attorney General’s Chambers and Ministry of Justice has released a report detailing the disposal of all forfeited assets from former President Yahya Jammeh.  This was announced in a release by the Ministry of Justice and below is the text of the release:

“Following the statement issued by the Attorney General’s Chambers and Ministry of Justice in which a commitment was made to release a comprehensive report detailing the disposal of all forfeited assets, including the procedures followed, beneficiaries, sale prices, and proceeds realised, the Ministry of Justice hereby makes public the following documents as promised;

1.         A list of vehicles, tractors, scrap materials, and other items sold by the Janneh Commission;

2.         An additional list of scrap materials sold by the Janneh Commission;

3.         A list of tractors allocated and sold to Councils;

4.         A list of furniture and furnishings sold by the Receiver, Augustus Prom, on the Orders of the Janneh Commission;

5.         A summary report on cattle and livestock sold by the Sheriff Division of the

Judiciary of The Gambia; and

6.         A list of the Properties, vehicles and Shares sold by the Receiver, Alpha Kapital, on behalf of the Government.

Regarding cattle and livestock, the Ministry has written to the Sheriff Division of the Judiciary of The Gambia to provide the identity of the buyers and the sale price attributed to each transaction. This information will also be made public upon receipt.

The Ministry of Justice reiterates its commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability, and the right of the public to be informed about matters of national interest”.
