The Gambia is set to welcome Africa’s finest young talents for the CAVB U18 Youth Development Cup, a prestigious beach volleyball showdown scheduled for September 2–7, 2025.

Organised under the banner of the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB), the tournament is more than just a competition — it is a stepping stone toward the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, where Africa aims to make a strong mark on the global stage.

The Youth Development Cup is designed to nurture emerging athletes, promote Olympic values, and elevate youth volleyball across the continent. With top under-18 teams from across Africa set to clash, the event promises both fierce competition and a showcase of the continent’s next generation of stars.

Sports officials say hosting the tournament is another proud moment for The Gambia, a nation rapidly establishing itself as a rising force in African beach volleyball.

“This event gives our young athletes the perfect platform to dream big and prepare for the Youth Olympics,” a CAVB official stated. “It’s about building champions on and off the court.”

For Gambian fans, it will be a rare chance to witness continental volleyball action at home while cheering for their homegrown heroes.
