The Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy has recently validated the National Digital Government Policy and Roadmap at an event held at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara Conference Centre.

This initiative represents a significant milestone in Gambia’s journey towards transforming the country’s public service delivery and in ensuring our systems are transparent, efficient, and, above all, citizen-centric.

The document is built on collective aspirations and reflects the principles of transparency, accountability, inclusivity, and innovation. It aims to strengthen our digital infrastructure and ensure interoperability across all government systems.

In his opening remarks, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Honourable Lamin Jabbi signifies the importance of the validation workshop, stating that it was an opportunity for relevant stakeholders to engage in thought-provoking and meaningful dialogue, share expert insights, and ensure that the roadmap truly reflects the needs of public institutions, civil society, and every Gambian citizen.

He expressed the Government’s commitment to building not only a policy but also a resilient digital ecosystem that empowers the government to serve with excellence and accountability.

The Hon.Minister for Public Service highlighted the close collaboration between the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy and the Ministry of Public Services, which is anchored on the common vision to drive meaningful digital transformation that accelerates public service delivery and fosters an inclusive, modern government.

He said it is through these joint initiatives, coordinated strategies, and shared objectives that they are working together to ensure that the digital policies are not only technically robust but also culturally and contextually relevant.

“As public servants, we recognise that the heart of our mission is serving the people by harnessing digital technology. We are not only streamlining government processes but also creating an environment that fosters accountability and continuous improvement”, he noted.

The Project Coordinator of WARDIP, Mr. Sering Omar Lowe, also noted the importance of the policy, saying it signifies the government’s commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and innovation.

Digital transformation is not merely a technological upgrade; it is the cornerstone of a modern, inclusive, and efficient public sector. The Policy and Roadmap is a comprehensive blueprint designed to advance digital Government initiatives. It also outlines strategic priorities, defines our objectives, and sets out clear pillars that will guide our journey towards coordinated and seamless public service delivery.
