The volleyball finals at the 2026 May Day Sports delivered an electrifying spectacle, as the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) and the Gambia Police Force (GPF) split top honours following intense encounters in both the men’s and women’s categories.

In the men’s final, GAF held their nerve in a closely fought contest, edging past GPF 2–1 to secure the championship after a gripping battle that kept spectators on edge.

The women’s final, however, swung decisively in favour of GPF, who produced a dominant performance to defeat GAF in straight sets (2–0) and claim the title in convincing fashion.

In the men’s standings, GAF took gold, GPF secured silver, while the Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia (MRCG) finished with bronze.

In the women’s category, GPF claimed gold, GAF settled for silver, and Gambia Ferry Services earned bronze.

Across both finals, teams displayed remarkable discipline, coordination, and resilience, underlining volleyball’s status as one of the standout events of the May Day Sports 2026 programme.
