His Excellency, Mohammed BS Jallow, Vice President of The Gambia, on Friday, 16 May, graciously received the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) consulting team at his office at the State House in Banjul. The team was led by the Accountant General, Ms. Agnes Macaulay.
The purpose of the visit was to present ACCA’s Public Value Agenda, which aims to support countries, governments, and institutions in advancing professional accounting standards that drive transparency, good governance, and sustainable development.
Mr. Norman Williams, ACCA Cluster Head for West and Central Africa, highlighted the importance of transitioning from cash-based to accrual-based accounting in the public sector. He emphasised that this shift brings numerous benefits—improved financial reporting, stronger public institutions, technology transfer, and enhanced service delivery.
The team expressed their appreciation to His Excellency for his warm welcome and unwavering support in strengthening public sector accounting standards in The Gambia.
