43 Public Records Personnel Take Oath of Secrecy

By Lamin B. Darboe

Under the leadership of Mr. Bartholomew Marong, the Director of the National Records Service (NRS), forty-three Public Records personnel from various government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) took the Oath of Secrecy. This is a legal requirement for every newly appointed records employee of The Gambia Government.

The ceremony highlights the significance of confidentiality in their roles, as they manage sensitive information that is vital to the integrity of public records.

Given the critical role that the records cadre plays in preserving and maintaining sensitive records, taking the oath is essential. It reinforces their dedication to safeguarding information, thereby upholding the trust placed in them by the public and the government.

The ceremony took place over two days, from May 27 to 28, 2025, at the National Records Service Headquarters in the Kanifing Institutional Area. The Oath of Secrecy was administered by Rakey Duanda, Senior State Counsel;  and Fatou Mbenga, State Counsel from the Attorney General’s Chamber and Ministry of Justice. Conducted in two batches, the event allowed each participant to fully engage in this significant commitment to their professional responsibilities.
